Each year, the Oregon Symphony recognizes excellence in Music Education through the Patty Vemer Music Educator of the Year Award. This prestigious award was created in memory of Patty Vemer, an inspirational leader in Music Education at the Oregon Symphony for more than 13 years. The Symphony honors those who have made significant contributions to the field of Music Education in their community, and at the same time serve as a source of inspiration to their students in the State of Oregon .
